With the explosive growth in domestic & international trade projected in the coming years, both in B2C as well as B2B segments, there is a dire need for focussed development of the warehousing industry. For the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision of the Government of India to succeed, world-class warehousing in India is of paramount importance.
The Warehousing Association of India (WAI) has been formed with the mission to promote the interest of the Warehousing Industry in India. The industry has several stakeholders that help in implementing, coordinating, policy formulation, and ensuring global standards and best-in-class processes and Warehousing infrastructure is developed in India. This platform aims at creating an umbrella organization to bring all the stakeholders together.
Most developed nations e.g. UK, USA, Singapore, Canada, and Australia have a National Warehousing Association which enables public-private partnerships and is critical to the successful development of the industry. WAI aims to be one such nodal body for India.
What started as a vision in early 2020, is now coming to fruition. It gives me tremendous joy to announce that we have successfully incorporated the Warehousing Association of India on 8th November 2021.
It is the first of its kind body in India and has already begun its proceedings. A team of veteran industry professionals has been set up to serve on our Management Committee.
As of today, we have onboarded several members from a wide variety of industries, including SaaS, Retail, Industrial, Logistics, etc.
Our first agenda included signing an MOU with ASSOCHAM in quarter 4 of 2021 to collaborate in spreading awareness about the industry and provide input for a policy framework on a collaborative basis.
